National Water Awards

Quick Summary: The National Water Awards recognise 32 stakeholders yearly -- states, districts, panchayats, institutions and individuals -- for advancing groundwater recharge, water-use efficiency and recycling, with trophies and cash prizes up to Rs.2 lakh.

About National Water Awards

Run by the Department of Water Resources, River Development, and Ganga Rejuvenation, the National Water Awards push a wide range of stakeholders — Civil Societies, Gram Panchayats, Urban Local Bodies, Water User Associations, Institutions, the Corporate Sector, and individuals — toward innovative groundwater augmentation through rainwater harvesting and artificial recharge, more efficient water use, recycling and reuse, and community-driven awareness in target areas, ultimately supporting sustainable groundwater development and stronger stakeholder capacity.

Selection Process

A Departmental Screening Committee reviews every application received for the 5th National Water Awards, and shortlisted entries then go before a Jury Committee set up by the Department of Water Resources, River Development and Ganga Rejuvenation, Ministry of Jal Shakti.
