Diggy

Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT)
Rajasthan
Quick Summary: The Diggy Scheme of Rajasthan's Agriculture Department subsidises 75% to 85% of the cost of building an irrigation dig, with grants of up to ₹3,00,000/- to ₹3,40,000/-. Farmers with at least 0.5 hectares of irrigated land can apply through the RAJ-KISAN service on the SSO portal.

About Diggy

Rajasthan Government, through its Agriculture Department, runs the Diggy Scheme, which subsidises farmers in the state who build a dig (water storage structure) for irrigation. Farmers can channel water from their fields into one storage point and then use sprinklers to irrigate a larger area. The grant is meant to take the financial burden off farmers so they can construct a dig, water their crops properly and raise healthier harvests. In short, the scheme helps cultivators make better use of water resources and improve farm output.

Other Important Points

  • Construction of the dig may begin only once the Agriculture Department has granted administrative approval.
  • The department carries out verification both before construction starts and after it is finished.
  • A drip/sprinkler set must be installed on the dig; this is compulsory.
  • The grant is credited straight into the farmer’s bank account.
