HIMAYAT- Deen Dayal Upadhyaya-Grameen Kaushalya Yojana
About HIMAYAT- Deen Dayal Upadhyaya-Grameen Kaushalya Yojana
Himayat offers unemployed youth of Jammu and Kashmir skill training that is tied to job placement. It is run by the Himayat Mission Management Unit, J&K State Rural Livelihoods Mission (JKSRLM), Govt. of J&K, and grew out of the Dr. C. Rangarajan Committee report handed to the Hon’ble Prime Minister on February 24, 2011, which proposed skill development for school/college dropouts.
Being implemented since 2011, Himayat is a Skill Development Programme for young people. The Report recommended making youth more employable by building their skills and backing them with placement and self-employment support.
Young people receive free training lasting 3 to 12 months in skills that are in strong demand in the market. Once training ends, a job is assured, and the youth are tracked for one year after placement to see how they are doing.
