Pre Matric Scholarship For Scheduled Tribe Students

Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT)
Quick Summary: This Ministry of Tribal Affairs scholarship eases the cost of Class 9 and 10 schooling for Scheduled Tribe students from lower-income families, aiming to keep them from dropping out at this crucial stage. It is awarded by the student's home State or UT for one year of study at a time.

About Pre Matric Scholarship For Scheduled Tribe Students

The Ministry of Tribal Affairs runs this scholarship for full-time, regular Scheduled Tribe students enrolled in Class 9th and 10th at a Government School, or at a school recognized by the Government or by a Central/State Board of Secondary Education, provided their Parents’/Guardian’s income stays within Rs. 2.00 lakh per annum.

By easing the financial burden on parents of ST children, the scheme works to cut down drop-out rates, particularly at the point where students move from elementary to secondary school. It also helps ST children engage more at the pre-matric level, boosting their performance and their odds of moving on to post-matric education.

Only studies within India qualify, and the scholarship is granted by the State/Union Territory Government where the applicant is domiciled. Each class of study can receive the scholarship for one year only.
