Prime Minister’s Rural Development Fellows Scheme
About Prime Minister’s Rural Development Fellows Scheme
Run by the Department of Rural Development, Ministry of Rural Development, Government of India, the “Prime Minister’s Rural Development Fellows Scheme” gives young women and men with academic or professional expertise a short-term opportunity to strengthen district administration, improve programme delivery, and engage with marginalized populations, thereby narrowing developmental and governance gaps. Fellows get structured learning and hands-on professional experience in rural development and poverty reduction, acting as Development Facilitators who assist District Administration — particularly in backward districts — while pursuing a post-graduate degree in Development Practice through distance learning and contact sessions.
