About Girnar Arohan-Avrohan Competition
Organised every year at state level by the Department of Sports, Youth and Cultural Activities, Government of Gujarat, the “Girnar Arohan-Avrohan Competition” is a stair-climbing race on Mount Girnar that promotes stamina, sporting participation and cultural pride. Mount Girnar has 9,900 steps in all; men must cover 5,500 of them and women 2,200. Those finishing in the top 10 win sizeable cash prizes, inspiring people from every walk of life to take on physical challenges and honour Gujarat’s heritage.
