About Gaurav Puraskar Award
Through the “Gaurav Puraskar Award”, the Sports, Youth and Cultural Activities Department, Government of Gujarat honours and motivates people who have shown excellence in music, dance, drama and folk art, offering both money and recognition. Every year, 12 deserving artistes receive a cash award of ₹1,000/-, a trophy and a letter of appreciation. Awardees also get chances to serve in various expert roles at cultural events and festivals sponsored by the state. The Gujarat State Sangeet Natak Academy implements the scheme.
