About Financial Assistance on Marriage of Sons- Haryana Silicosis Board
Implemented by the Haryana Labour Welfare Board, Government of Haryana, the “Financial Assistance on Marriage of Sons” scheme pays ₹11,000/- to workers whose silicosis has been confirmed by the Silicosis Diagnosis Board, Haryana, for the weddings of up to two of their sons. Note: Silicosis is an incurable lung disease common in workplaces such as stone crushers and mines, and in Haryana it is a notifiable disease under the Factories Act, of 1948, and the Building and Other Construction Workers (RE & CS) Act, of 1996. After the Silicosis Diagnosis Board confirms a case, the worker is promptly referred to hospital: those covered by the Employee State Insurance Act, 1948 are treated at ESI hospitals, while others get free treatment from the Health Department at district hospitals and medical colleges, and the Labour Department arranges reimbursement for essential resources not available locally. Symptoms of Silicosis • Linked with T.B • Breathlessness • Tiredness • Poor appetite (Anorexia) • Chest pain with a dry, non-productive cough (Whooping Cough) • Failure of the respiratory system • Ultimately fatal
