Introduced by Gujarat’s Agriculture, Farmers Welfare and Cooperation Department, the “Establishment of 12 Milch Animal Farm” scheme seeks to establish animal husbandry as a standalone enterprise, motivate livestock owners to take up dairy farming, and create more jobs in rural areas.

A loan must be obtained from an institution/bank recognised by the Reserve Bank. Note: Beneficiaries without their own land may set up the dairy farm on land leased for at least 7 (seven) years.
Benefits Provided
Establishment of 12 Milch Animal Farm provides the following benefits to eligible applicants:
Interest Subsidy:
General Category:
7.5% for a period of up to 5 years from taking the bank loan. 1. SC/ST/Female Beneficiaries: 8.5% for a period of up to 5 years. 1. Gir/Kankrej Breed Units: a maximum subsidy of up to 12%.
Shed Construction Assistance:
General Category
General Category: half (50%) of actual expenditure, capped at ₹1,50,000/-.
Gir/Kankrej Breed
Gir/Kankrej Breed: 75% of actual expenditure, capped at ₹2,25,000/-.
Animal Insurance Premium (for 3 years):
General Category
General Category: a 75% subsidy, capped at ₹43,200/-.
Gir/Kankrej Breed
Gir/Kankrej Breed: a 90% subsidy, capped at ₹51,840/-.
Equipment Subsidy:
Electric Chaff Cutter
Electric Chaff Cutter: 75% subsidy capped at ₹18,000/- (General) ; 90% subsidy capped at ₹21,600/- (Gir/Kankrej).
Fogger System
Fogger System: 75% subsidy capped at ₹9,000/- (General) | 90% subsidy capped at ₹10,800/- (Gir/Kankrej).
Milking Machine
Milking Machine: 75% subsidy capped at ₹33,750/- (General) | 90% subsidy capped at ₹40,500/- (Gir/Kankrej).
Note:
The interest subsidy is calculated on the lower of the amount set out above and the unit cost fixed by NABARD or by the bank for setting up dairy units of up to 12 animals.
