Introduced by the Agriculture, Farmers Welfare and Cooperation Department, Gujarat, the “Fishermen Accident Relief Scheme” offers monetary support to the families of Gujarat fishermen who die in a Pakistan Jail, go missing at sea, or are killed in an accident while fishing at sea. The amount depends on how the death occurred and is intended to help the legal heirs deal with their loss.

Benefits Provided
Fishermen Accident Relief Scheme provides the following benefits to eligible applicants:
Death in Pakistan Jail:
Standard of Assistance – ₹4,00,000/-; Minimum Time Limit (in Years) for Reclaiming Benefits – payable just once, after death or disappearance is declared under the rules.
Lost in Sea:
Standard of Assistance – ₹2,00,000/-; Minimum Time Limit (in Years) for Reclaiming Benefits – payable just once, after death or disappearance is declared under the rules.
Accidental death while fishing at sea:
Standard of Assistance – ₹2,00,000/-; Minimum Time Limit (in Years) for Reclaiming Benefits – payable just once, after death or disappearance is declared under the rules.
