In 1982 the Director Scheduled Caste Welfare, Department of Social Justice & Empowerment, Government of Gujarat, launched the Dr. P. G. Solanki Scheme for Loan/Assistance to Medical Post Graduate Doctors of Scheduled Caste. It provides loans/financial assistance so that Scheduled Caste Medical Post Graduate (M.D/M.S) Doctors can launch an independent practice, clinic, consultation room and the like.

Scheduled Caste doctors who, as Graduate Medical degree…
Scheduled Caste doctors who, as Graduate Medical degree holders (MBBS, B.S.A.M., B.A.M.S. and B.D.S. (Dental)), already received loan/assistance for starting an independent practice are not "entitled" to any loan/assistance under this scheme as post graduates. Note 01: Margin money loan assistance from the government must be used solely for its sanctioned purpose. Any diversion will lead to recovery of the loan with penal interest from the repayment date, and recovery as land revenue if needed. Note 02: The sanctioned loan is recovered in equal monthly instalments over four years, starting after the applicant finishes repaying the bank or financial institution loan with interest, or after eight years, whichever comes first. Note 03: The applicant may repay the balance ahead of schedule. Note 04: Failure to repay within the set time attracts penal interest of 2.50% in addition to the instalments.
