About Best Book Award
Run by the Sports, Youth and Cultural Activities Department, Government of Gujarat, the Best Book Award scheme encourages quality literary writing and honours literary talent. Through the Gujarat Sahitya Akademi, it recognises the finest books brought out in each calendar year across several languages. The first prize carries ₹11,000 together with a certificate and shield, the second prize ₹7,000 with a certificate and shield, and the third prize ₹5,000, again with a certificate and shield. The Gujarat Sahitya Akademi is responsible for implementing the scheme.
