Post Graduate Indira Gandhi Scholarship For Single Girl Child
About Post Graduate Indira Gandhi Scholarship For Single Girl Child
UGC runs this scholarship for girl students admitted to the first year of a postgraduate course at a designated university or postgraduate college, provided they are the only girl child in their family. It pays ₹ 36,200/- per year for the full duration of the PG course, and was introduced to offset the direct cost of educating girls — especially those who are the sole daughter in their household.
The scheme’s stated objectives are: a) Supporting the postgraduate education of single girl children, specifically at the PG level. b) Recognizing families that observe the small-family norm.
Candidates apply online through the National Scholarship Portal once the application window opens and a notice is published on the UGC website. Every year, 3,000 fresh scholarships are awarded, disbursed annually via DBT.
