Savitribai Jyotirao Phule Fellowship For Single Girl Child
About Savitribai Jyotirao Phule Fellowship For Single Girl Child
The University Grants Commission (UGC), under the Department of Higher Education, runs the Savitribai Jyotirao Phule Fellowship for Single Girl Child (SJSGC) to support Ph.D. research work. It targets ‘single girl children’ — girls who are the only child of their parents, with no brother or sister — and also covers girls who are one of twin or fraternal daughters. Each year, the number of fellowship slots offered depends on how many complete, eligible applications come in through the online mode. Objectives of the Scheme – i. To support single girl children pursuing higher education in Social Sciences. ii. To recognize the value of observing the small family norm. iii. To acknowledge the practice of having a single girl child in society. iv. To spread awareness of the single girl child concept. v. To promote the standing of single girls in society.
