Mizoram Grant-in-Aid to Voluntary Organisations and Individuals
About Mizoram Grant-in-Aid to Voluntary Organisations and Individuals
The Social Welfare Department, Government of Mizoram implements the Mizoram Grant-in-Aid to Voluntary Organizations and Individuals Rules, 2018. Its purpose is to reinforce social welfare work by giving financial assistance to eligible voluntary organizations, institutions and individuals involved in welfare activities. Many kinds of welfare services are backed, such as care, protection, rehabilitation, skill development, health support and awareness programmes aimed at vulnerable groups including women in distress, children, persons with disabilities, elderly citizens, drug users and other socially disadvantaged individuals. Both recurring and non-recurring expenditure can be funded, covering project implementation, infrastructure, equipment and service delivery. NGOs and community-based organizations (CBOs) are encouraged to take part and add to the government’s efforts to tackle socio-economic challenges. Grants depend on the merit of the project and are subject to conditions; they usually meet up to 75% of the project cost, and the organization bears the rest. Research and publications on social welfare issues are also supported.
