About Maintenance Allowance to Severely Affected Persons
Recognising the serious hardships that people with severe disabilities face, the Department for the Welfare of Differently Abled Persons has introduced the “Maintenance Allowance Scheme for Severely Affected Persons”. It is aimed at people whose disabilities are so profound that other programmes cannot rehabilitate them in any meaningful way. Only people with a disability rating above 75% are covered, so that support reaches those with the greatest limitations. The monthly allowance acts as a financial safety net that helps them meet basic needs with more dignity and independence, and it shows the Department’s commitment to the welfare of the whole differently-abled community and to a more inclusive and caring society.
