Integrated Child Development Services Scheme
About Integrated Child Development Services Scheme
ICDS began in Nagaland in 1975 in the Jalukie block of Peren district with 50 Anganwadi centers. It has expanded to 60 (sixty) ICDS projects across 17 (Seventeen) districts of the State — 2 (two) Urban projects, one rural project, and the remainder Tribal projects. A Network of 3980 Anganwadi centers across the State delivers all 6(six) ICDS services: Supplementary nutrition, Health checkup, Non formal pre-school education, Immunization, Nutrition & Health education and Referral services. Today the 60 (sixty) projects reach 2.11 Lakh beneficiaries through 3980 Anganwadi Centers, offering all 6 (six) services to children aged 0-6, pregnant women, lactating mothers and adolescent girls. The Poshan Tracker management application gives a 360-degree picture of Anganwadi Centre (AWC) activities, Anganwadi Workers’ (AWWs) service delivery and full beneficiary management for pregnant women, lactating mothers, children and adolescent girls. The National e Governance Division (NeGD) manages the POSHAN Tracker App through a State Coordinator based at the Social Welfare Directorate. Objectives
1. Raising the nutrition and health levels of children aged 0-6 years; 1. Building a strong base for the child’s psychological, physical and social development. 1. Cutting down mortality, morbidity, malnutrition and school dropout; 1. Ensuring effective co-ordination of policy and implementation among departments to foster child development; and 1. Strengthening mothers’ ability to care for the child’s normal health and nutrition needs through proper nutrition and health education.
