Free Motorized Tricycle Scheme for Persons with Disabilities
About Free Motorized Tricycle Scheme for Persons with Disabilities
Started in 2020 by the Government of Uttar Pradesh, the “Free Motorized Tricycle Scheme for Persons with Disabilities” supports people whose disabilities limit their mobility. It hands out motorized tricycles free of cost to those who find it hard to take part fully in society because of physical limitations, with the aim of aiding their economic and social rehabilitation and giving them more independence in everyday life.
A number of factors decide who qualifies. People with conditions such as muscular dystrophy, stroke, cerebral palsy or hemophilia can be eligible if they fulfil certain requirements: they need good eyesight, adequate mental capacity, and enough upper-body strength to ride the tricycle while seated. The applicant’s disability must also be at least 80%, as certified by the district’s Chief Medical Officer.
