About Financial Assistance To Poor & Needy Widow Women
The Department of Social Welfare, Govt. of Manipur, runs “Financial Assistance to Poor & Needy Widow Women” to give social security, in the form of money, to widows aged 18-40 years, a group left out of the Indira Gandhi National Widow Pension Scheme. Armed conflict and HIV/AIDS have left many widows in this age group in Manipur, and the scheme is essential to spare them hardship in meeting their basic daily needs. It covers widows domiciled in Manipur who have lived there continuously for more than 5 years before applying. Being a State Sponsored Scheme, it is open only to citizens domiciled in the State of Manipur, and applications go through the relevant District Social Welfare Officer.
