Financial Assistance To Ex-Convicts
About Financial Assistance To Ex-Convicts
The Department of Social Justice, Government of Kerala, introduced the scheme “Financial Assistance to Ex-Convicts” to help economically poor people released from jail earn a living. As a step towards social rehabilitation, it gives them a one-time grant to set up self-employment or a small Industry/Trade. Traditionally, offenders were locked away from society for as long as possible. Over time, however, it became clear that society is better protected when offenders are corrected and reformed through individual treatment. With this in mind, the Government of Kerala began the scheme, so that Ex-Convicts can use the assistance to take up small-scale income-generating work.
