About Educational Assistance to Children of Women Headed Families

Kerala’s Social Justice Department started the scheme “Educational Assistance to Children of Women Headed Families”. Kerala has a large number of households headed by women, and most of them struggle in very poor living conditions. To ease their burden, the scheme offers financial support towards the education of their children. It covers women from Below Poverty Line (BPL) families/Priority families; children of HIV/AIDS affected persons, socially discriminated persons, war widows and similar groups qualify regardless of BPL status. Families in which the woman’s husband is bedridden because of a stroke/or spinal injury and cannot earn a living are also covered.
