About Financial Assistance (Kanyadaan) on the Occasion of Marriage of Daughter- Haryana Silicosis Board
Implemented by the Haryana Labour Welfare Board, Government of Haryana, the “Financial Assistance (Kanyadaan) on the Occasion of Marriage of Daughter” scheme supports workers who have silicosis confirmed by the Silicosis Diagnosis Board, Haryana. Such workers can receive ₹51,000/- towards the wedding of each of up to three daughters. Note: Silicosis is a lung disease with no cure, commonly found in workplaces such as stone crushers and mines. In Haryana it is notifiable under the Factories Act, of 1948, and the Building and Other Construction Workers (RE & CS) Act, of 1996. Once the Silicosis Diagnosis Board confirms a case, the worker is promptly referred for hospital treatment. Workers covered by the Employee State Insurance Act, 1948 are treated at ESI hospitals, while all others get free care at district hospitals and medical colleges run by the Health Department; where required resources are not available locally, reimbursement can be arranged through the Labour Department. Symptoms of Silicosis • Frequently linked with T.B • Breathlessness • Tiredness • Reduced appetite (Anorexia). • Pain in the chest along with a dry, non-productive cough (Whooping Cough). • Failure of the respiratory system • Ultimately results in death
