Crop Cluster Development Programme
About Crop Cluster Development Programme
In Baagwani Villages, the Crop Cluster Development Programme (CCDP) is a broad scheme for building backward and forward linkages in horticulture. It seeks to improve farmers’ social and economic security, ensure nutritional security, set up transparent institutional delivery systems, create rural jobs, expand the area and productivity of horticultural crops, and organise the marketing of horticultural produce. Small farmers often struggle to sell to modern buyers such as supermarkets and big retailers, so the programme encourages them to pool their produce through farmer groups and teaches them modern technologies. The CCDP stresses a coordinated supply chain covering aggregation of produce, market links, access to good inputs and agro-services, and post-harvest infrastructure. By opening access to fair, profitable markets and keeping to global standards, it aims to deliver on quality, quantity and smooth supply.
