About Nagar Van Yojana
The Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Government of India, runs “Nagar Van Yojana” to develop 400 Nagar Vans and 200 Nagar Vatikas — urban green spaces that protect land from degradation. It offers a one-time development grant of ₹4,00,000/- per hectare, capped at ₹2,00,00,000/- for 50 hectares, covering costs like fencing, soil-moisture conservation, theme-based plantations, and tree-cover maintenance. Applicants must prepare a detailed project proposal with a Keyhole Markup Language map at 1:10,000 scale or larger, commit to covering the balance cost, and submit a plan for the identified land. The State Forest Department and the National Afforestation and Eco-Development Board implement the scheme, and applications go through the concerned State Forest Department offices offline.
