About ICMR-Junior Research Fellowship
The Department of Health Research, Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, runs “ICMR-Junior Research Fellowship” to select eligible Indian candidates for research through a national entrance exam and fund their Ph.D. studies. It awards fellowships in Life Sciences and Social Sciences streams on merit, with 150 fellowships given plus additional candidates placed under ICMR-funded projects. The fellowship depends on securing a placement at a recognized institution — a medical college, university, or research institute — and is valid for 6 months, with the result usable for placement for up to 2 years.
