Quick Summary: DFFT sends eligible IAS, IPS, IFoS, and Group A officers abroad for long- or short-term training at foreign universities and institutes, funded domestically. It aims to expose officers to international best practices in policy and governance.

About Domestic Funding Of Foreign Training

The “Domestic Funding of Foreign Training (DFFT)” scheme was introduced by the Department of Personnel and Training, Government of India, in 2001-02, to upgrade government officers’ knowledge and skills and expose them to international best practices by deputing them to long- or short-term training programmes abroad. The Training Division of the Department of Personnel and Training implements the scheme, which nominates officers to universities/institutes abroad, sharpening their knowledge, skills, and competence in their current roles as well as future assignments, drawing on international developments in policy and governance.
