Agricultural Marketing Infrastructure

Quick Summary: The Agricultural Marketing Infrastructure sub-scheme gives farmers, FPOs, cooperatives, and state agencies a back-ended capital subsidy of 25-33.33% to build storage, processing, and marketing infrastructure, boosting farmer incomes through better market access.

About Agricultural Marketing Infrastructure

This scheme is designed to help farmers add value to and process their produce, so they earn more by selling more market-ready, processed goods. To build up Agricultural Marketing Infrastructure — including scientific storage capacity — the Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare, Government of India runs the capital subsidy sub-scheme ‘Agricultural Marketing Infrastructure (AMI)’ under the broader Integrated Scheme for Agricultural Marketing (ISAM), extended through 31.03.2026 nationwide.

Projects eligible for assistance include storage infrastructure (ranging from 50-5,000 MT for private parties and cooperatives, and 50-10,000 MT for state agencies) as well as other, non-storage marketing infrastructure projects.

AMI works as an open-ended, demand-driven, credit-linked, back-ended subsidy scheme. Eligible beneficiaries include individuals, agri-preneurs, farmers, FPOs, cooperatives, and state agencies. Subsidy support runs at 25% for plain areas and 33.33% for the North Eastern Region, hilly terrain, and Women/SC/ST promoters and FPOs, covering projects such as storage infrastructure, development or upgrade of rural haats into Grameen Agricultural Markets (GrAMs), Common Facilitation Centres for FPOs, marketing infrastructure at market yards, direct-marketing infrastructure, mobile post-harvest infrastructure like reefer vans, stand-alone cold storages up to 1,000 MT, and Integrated Value Chain (IVC) projects up to the primary processing stage. Eligible applicants span individuals, farmers, groups of farmers/growers, registered FPOs/FPCs, firms, companies, corporations, NGOs, SHGs, cooperatives, cooperative marketing federations, autonomous government bodies, local bodies, panchayats, and state agencies.
