AICTE-INAE Distinguished Visiting Professorship Scheme

Quick Summary: This joint AICTE-INAE scheme brings experienced industry experts and retired INAE Fellows into engineering colleges as Distinguished Visiting Professors to lecture, mentor projects, and guide curriculum, paid a per-day honorarium plus travel.

About AICTE-INAE Distinguished Visiting Professorship Scheme

In 1999, the Indian National Academy of Engineering (INAE) partnered with the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) to launch the Distinguished Visiting Professorship (DVP) Scheme, aimed at deepening industry-institute ties by channelling the knowledge of seasoned industry experts into technical education, blending their real-world experience with academic learning. Over the years, the scheme has drawn strong interest from both industry and engineering research institutions. Since 2018, it has also opened up to all retired INAE Fellows.

Objectives: Under the scheme, a Distinguished Visiting Professor will:

  • Lecture students and faculty at AICTE-approved engineering colleges/institutions on the state of the art in industry, its work environment, and R&D needs.
  • Guide student projects/theses relevant to industry.
  • Support curriculum development to keep pace with evolving industrial needs.
  • Help build cooperative undergraduate and postgraduate programmes with industry that benefit faculty, students, and industry alike.
  • Take up any other activity that benefits both engineering institutions and industry.
