SERB Research Scientist Scheme
About SERB Research Scientist Scheme
Two existing schemes — DST’s INSPIRE Faculty Scheme and SERB’s Ramanujan Fellowship Scheme — help young scientists launch and sustain research careers across science and engineering disciplines, but neither can be extended once the five-year tenure ends, leaving fellows without support once that period is over. To give such fellows more time to sustain their research, the SERB Board has approved a new ‘SERB Research Scientist (SRS) Scheme’ for INSPIRE Faculty and Ramanujan Fellowship awardees who have not secured a regular position by the end of their five-year tenure. Under this scheme, they are designated ‘SERB Research Scientists’ and get a chance to keep their research going while they look for a regular position. > Objective:
To identify INSPIRE Faculty and Ramanujan Fellows nearing or past the end of their five-year tenure and give them a platform to sustain their research career for a further two years.
