Scheme for Reimbursement of Testing and Certification Charges for Start-ups and Telecom MSEs
About Scheme for Reimbursement of Testing and Certification Charges for Start-ups and Telecom MSEs
The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, working with the Department of Telecommunications (DoT), runs the “Scheme for Reimbursement of Testing and Certification Charges for Start-ups and Telecom MSEs” since testing and certification of telecom equipment are essential for Start-ups and Telecom MSEs to gain acceptance in national and international markets — certified products build consumer trust and help drive business growth domestically and globally. To support these smaller players, the competent authority reimburses part of the testing and certification charges incurred under the mandatory/voluntary telecom certification scheme. Through this scheme, DoT reimburses part of the testing charges Start-ups and MSEs pay at Telecommunication Engineering Centre (TEC)-designated/recognized labs, or at NABL-accredited labs where no TEC-designated Conformity Assessment Body exists for a given test, along with certification charges under the mandatory/voluntary scheme. > Objectives:
- To reimburse part of the testing and certification charges Start-ups and MSEs incur in the telecom/ICT field, at TEC/National Centre for Communication Security (NCCS)-designated labs or NABL-accredited labs (where no TEC-designated CAB exists), under the mandatory/voluntary certification scheme.
- To sharpen Start-ups’/MSEs’ competence and build a supportive ecosystem for telecom product development, boosting their competitiveness domestically and in exports.
Duration of the Scheme:
- To kick-start the ecosystem, the scheme runs for two years from implementation, or until the allocated ₹25,00,00,000/- is fully used, whichever comes first.
