About Scheme for Financial Assistance to select States/UTs for Skill Development in Electronics System Design and Manufacturing (ESDM) sector

The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology runs the “Scheme for Financial Assistance to Select States/UTs for Skill Development in ESDM Sector” to build skilling capacity in the Electronics System Design and Manufacturing (ESDM) sector, tapping into the existing pool of students and unemployed youth — those in schools from Class IX onwards, ITIs, Polytechnics, and non-engineering UG colleges, as well as school dropouts and the unemployed — by giving them industry-recognized additional skills for ESDM employment. It also aims to draw fresh industry investment into ESDM training and help evolve processes for certifying courses, enabling upward mobility, and recognizing institutions that run such courses, as per industry needs. > Objectives:

  • To financially support skill development for 90,000 people in the ESDM sector, via select States/UTs, to boost the employability of students and unemployed youth.
