Right To Information Fellowship
About Right To Information Fellowship
The Department of Personnel and Training (DOPT), under the Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions, Government of India, serves as the nodal ministry for the Right to Information Act. Through the Right to Information Fellowship, DOPT works towards a more accountable and transparent government by supporting awareness generation, training, and e-governance initiatives around RTI. The scheme offers four short-term fellowships to researchers drawn from media, civil society, and RTI training backgrounds, so they can undertake field-based research on RTI-related themes. The resulting research is expected to deepen understanding of how the Act is being implemented — its achievements, the obstacles it faces, how those obstacles are being tackled, and what further steps are needed to fulfil the Act’s objectives.
