Raman-Charpak Fellowship
About Raman-Charpak Fellowship
Named in honour of two Nobel Laureates in Physics — India’s Prof. C.V. Raman (1930) and France’s Prof. Georges Charpak (1992) — the Raman-Charpak Fellowship Programme was launched during the French President’s state visit to India in February 2013. It is meant to enable doctoral students from both nations to exchange places, deepening future collaboration in Science, Technology and Innovation. Run by the Indo-French Centre for Promotion of Advanced Research / Centre Franco-Indien pour la Promotion de la Recherche Avancée (IFCPAR/CEFIPRA), the programme lets Indian and French doctoral students sharpen their research skills by spending part of their study period at a University or R&D Institute in the other country. It has since been extended to French Master’s students too, who can now do an internship at an Indian university or research institute as part of building their Master’s-level skills. > Target Group:
The programme is meant for highly qualified PhD students registered at an Indian or French research institute/university, as well as Master’s students from France. It gives them a valuable chance to complete part of their PhD/Master’s research abroad, build professional ties, foster new S&T cooperation, and experience a different cultural setting. > Duration of Fellowship:
Fellowships run between two and six months. > Areas covered under the Fellowship:
- Atmospheric Sciences
- Earth Sciences and Environmental Sciences
- Materials Sciences
- Physical Sciences
- Chemical Sciences
- Engineering Sciences
- Biological Sciences
- Life and Medical Sciences
- Mathematical and Computational Sciences
