Quality Improvement Programme (QIP)
About Quality Improvement Programme (QIP)
The All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) launched the “Quality Improvement Programme” in 1970, mainly to sharpen the expertise and capabilities of faculty at degree and diploma-level institutions nationwide, with AICTE overseeing the programme. Only sponsored teachers can gain admission to Master’s and Doctoral Degree Programs under QIP, which aims to help teachers earn these degrees and build a research culture and stronger educational capability by immersing them in a study institution’s environment. > Category
The Scheme covers the following categories of applicants:
1. Faculty Members of AICTE-approved Polytechnic Institutes (Diploma level) (with a valid Faculty ID of AICTE) for pursuing M.E./M.Tech. programs. 1. Faculty Members of AICTE-approved Degree Level Engineering/Management Institutes (with valid Faculty ID of AICTE) for pursuing Ph.D. programs.
Duration
- The Master’s Degree Programme under the Scheme runs for two (2) years, with no provision for extension.
- The PhD programme runs for a period of three (3) Years, and no further extension is normally granted.
- The QIP Centre Coordinator may permit a delay of up to six months in joining the Ph.D programme after completing Pre-Ph.D coursework; any delay beyond six months must be reported to AICTE, with admission happening only after AICTE’s approval.
