Production Linked Incentive (PLI) Scheme For National Programme on Advanced Chemistry Cell (ACC) Battery Storage

Quick Summary: This PLI scheme backs firms setting up giga-scale Advanced Chemistry Cell (ACC) battery manufacturing in India with a ₹18,100 crore incentive pool disbursed over 5 years, tied to committed capacity and rising domestic value addition. It targets 50 GWh of ACC capacity plus 5 GWh for niche technologies to cut import dependence in battery storage.

About Production Linked Incentive (PLI) Scheme For National Programme on Advanced Chemistry Cell (ACC) Battery Storage

Launched by the Department of Heavy Industry, Ministry of Heavy Industry and Public Enterprises, Government of India, the Production Linked Incentive (PLI) Scheme for the National Programme on Advanced Chemistry Cell (ACC) Battery Storage encourages domestic and foreign investors to build giga-scale ACC manufacturing plants that deliver high value addition, quality output, and committed capacity within a set timeframe. Beneficiary firms receive subsidy-based financial incentives to expand domestic manufacturing of Advanced Chemistry Cells (ACCs) and cut reliance on imports. The Department of Heavy Industry runs the scheme through a transparent selection process built around a Request for Proposal (RFP), targeting 50 GWh of ACC manufacturing capacity plus a further 5 GWh reserved for niche technologies. Firms selected must complete their manufacturing facility within 2 years, after which incentives are paid out over the following 5 years. The scheme also sets domestic value addition targets and minimum investment thresholds to strengthen India’s battery ecosystem.
