Save and Forward the application (if it is not saved & forwarded, the onus lies with the student/ESM). Check with your ZSB about your application's status on their Portal (if required). (Online Submission Flow Chart) Note: Hard copy / paper applications will not be entertained. One candidate can apply for one course only.] Selection of Student: After scrutinizing applications, a merit list gets generated based on the parameters below: (a) The merit list is prepared as per priority for grant of scholarship (Category 1 to 6), subject to the percentage of marks obtained in the Minimum Educational Qualification (MEQ). (b) A separate list is prepared for male and female students. For any doubt or clarification, kindly contact your Zila Sainik Board for the detailed Information Brochure available with them. Acknowledgement of Scholarship Amount from Students:
On receiving the scholarship amount from KSB, the student is required to update Column 14 of the Renewal Application by logging into their KSB account using their Login ID & Password and entering the 'DATE OF PAYMENT AND AMOUNT RECEIVED' (two separate columns).
This is a mandatory audit requirement to retain the benefit of PMSS; otherwise the scholarship will be cancelled and the money already paid recovered. A SAVE BUTTON is provided at the bottom of Column 14, and this action has to be completed immediately on receipt of the scholarship amount for each instalment. Other Important Aspects for ESM/Student Relating to PMSS
Students should respond in time to SMS/e-mail received from the Kendriya Sainik Board.
The E-mail and Mobile Number mentioned in the application must be the student's; an Alternate Mobile Number can belong to the ESM. Once registered, the e-mail and mobile number should not be changed, since all messages get sent to the registered e-mail/mobile number.
If an observation raised by ZSB/RSB and KSB during checking of a new application is not rectified within the stipulated 10-day time frame, the system will automatically reject the application. So ensure the observation is rectified in time to avoid system rejection.
From January to May, processing, selection and preparation of the merit list of new applications (1st year students) is done by KSB; processing and payment of renewal applications happens as and when received throughout the year. Students/ESM should keep this periodicity in mind before raising any query relating to checking/payment status of applications.
Students/ESM should log in to their KSB account to check application status. Note that while the application status may show pending on the student dashboard, the application could actually be in process at different levels/functionaries at KSB.
Where the application status shows 'New' on the student dashboard, it means the application is yet to be submitted by the ESM/Student and still sits in the ESM/Student's dashboard. In such cases, the ESM/Student needs to open the application and click 'Save and Forward' to submit it for onward processing.
Students studying abroad, as well as those in distance learning/vocational courses, are not eligible for PMSS.
The scholarship amount, including any other scholarship or financial assistance from any other source, will not exceed the total amount of scholarship available under this scheme. Renewal Instructions for Students/ESM:
The First Installment gets paid immediately after selection in the merit list; for subsequent payments, students should submit an Online Renewal Application on completion of each academic year, until the course is completed.
50% marks are mandatory in each semester / academic year, and passing all subjects in each semester/year on the FIRST ATTEMPT is a mandatory requirement to continue the scholarship.
If a student fails or gets an RA in any subject, their scholarship closes forever, and they are not entitled to subsequent PMSS instalments; however, they can apply for renewal of the scholarship within ONE YEAR of the result being declared.
Renewal applications get processed as and when received throughout the year. However, during January to May, KSB is occupied with processing, selection and merit list preparation for new applications (1st year students). Note that while your application status may show pending, it could be in process at different levels/functionaries, i.e. at User level, Supervisory level, and finally by JD (PMSS) of KSB.
Once JD (PMSS) approves, the list of students is sent to the Account Officer of KSB to process payment through the concerned bank. Where the application status shows 'New' on the student's dashboard, it indicates that the application is NOT yet submitted by the ESM/Student and remains with the ESM/student. In such cases, the ESM/Student needs to open the application and click save and forward to submit it for onward processing.
Students/ESM should keep the periodicity of checking of applications (new and renewal) in mind before raising any query relating to checking/payment status. Therefore, have PATIENCE and check your e-mail / KSB account for regular updates.
Students need to ensure that the Mobile No and E-mail ID given for PMSS remain functional until completion of the course, since all alerts and SMS about application status get sent to the given Mobile No and E-Mail; however, in case of any change, KSB must be informed to update the record.
Students already selected for PMSS and currently studying in their 2nd or subsequent year need not apply for a New Application; such students are required to apply for Renewal Application only. Instructions for PMSS Check List for Student Do's and Don'ts
