About National Overseas Scholarship For Students With Disabilities

The Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment set up the “National Overseas Scholarship For Students With Disabilities” scheme so that regular, full-time students with disabilities can pursue higher studies — a Master’s degree or Ph.D. — at foreign universities in specified fields. Eligibility covers the disabilities listed in the Schedule of the “Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016”, spanning visual, hearing, speech, locomotor, intellectual, and other disabilities, and DEPwD runs NOS offline. Students with disabilities (SwDs) often lack the chance to put their hidden talents to use; this scheme exists to help them study further, build a livelihood, and secure a dignified place in society, given the physical, financial, psychological, and mental barriers they face in studying and living with dignity.
