Lack of proper clothing can keep girls away from school, and the “Mukhya Mantri Balika Poshak Yojna”, introduced in 2006-07, tackles such barriers to promote girls’ education. Girls studying in Classes VI to VII at government schools are given a pair of school uniforms, with the aim of improving their enrollment, retention and learning outcomes.
