Modified Market Development Assistance Scheme
About Modified Market Development Assistance Scheme
The Ministry of Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises (MSME), Government of India, launched the “Modified Market Development Assistance Scheme” on 1st April 2010 to rationalise financial assistance, encourage market segmentation, strengthen marketing networks, and incentivise artisans and Karyakartas. It provides financial assistance calculated at 35% of Prime Cost for Khadi (Cotton, Muslin, Wool) and Polyvastra, and 20% of Prime Cost for Silk Khadi, split among producing institutions, selling institutions, artisans, and Karyakartas. This funding supports technology upgradation, hiring design consultants, value addition, modernising and computerising sales outlets, and giving direct incentives to artisans and Karyakartas — all aimed at boosting Khadi production and sales. The Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC) implements the scheme, mainly through its Directorate of Khadi, with applications accepted online.
