About Manav Garima Yojana
The Director Scheduled Caste Welfare, Department of Social Justice & Empowerment, Government of Gujarat, launched the “Manav Garima Yojana” in 1995. Scheduled Caste persons who want to set up cottage industries for self-employment receive financial help without needing a bank loan, and those looking for self-employment are also given employment/tool kits. Covering a list of 28 trades, GRIMCO buys and hands out the tool kits as the resources/tools needed for business. The scheme aims to improve the finances of individual artisans living below the poverty line and to raise the income of weaker sections of society engaged in small trades/businesses such as vending, vegetable selling, and carpentry.
