About Innovation In Science Pursuit For Inspired Research (INSPIRE) – Scholarship For Higher Education (SHE)
“Scholarship for Higher Education (SHE)” is a component under the Department of Science and Technology’s flagship “Innovation in Science Pursuit for Inspired Research (INSPIRE)” programme, Ministry of Science and Technology, Government of India. It seeks to draw students toward basic and natural Science subjects at the undergraduate and postgraduate level and toward research careers, by offering scholarships to interested, deserving students. Since the SHE-2017 batch, 12,000 scholarships worth ₹80,000/- each are announced every year for students pursuing Bachelor’s and Master’s level courses in Basic and Natural Science areas.
Tenure
1. Selected candidates are supported for up to five years, counted from the 1st year of B.Sc., B.S., Int. M.Sc./Int.M.S., or until course completion, whichever comes first. 1. Continuing the scholarship depends on good academic performance in University examinations and a recommendation from the Head of the Institution.
INSPIRE Scholarship covers the following Basic and Natural Science subjects for B.Sc./B.S./Int. M.Sc./Int. M.S. courses: (1) Physics (2) Chemistry (3) Mathematics (4) Biology (5) Statistics (6) Geology (7) Astrophysics (8) Astronomy (9) Electronics (10) Botany (11) Zoology (12) Biochemistry (13) Anthropology (14) Microbiology (15) Geophysics (16) Geochemistry (17) Atmospheric Sciences & (18) Oceanic Sciences. Other courses — Engineering, Medicine, Military Science, Defence Studies, Agriculture, Psychology, Seed Technology, Home Science, Geography, Economics, Education (including the B.Sc.-B.Ed. dual degree), Biotechnology, Computer Science, Computer Applications, Bioinformatics, Instrumentation, Information Technology, Physical Education, Distance Education courses at Open Universities, and other professional courses — are NOT covered.
