About Indira Amma Bhojanalya

Under “Indira Amma Bhojanalaya”, the Rural Development Department, Government of Uttarakhand sets up and runs low-cost food canteens across the state. The goal is twofold: to serve wholesome, affordable meals to poor and needy people, and to give rural women’s self-help groups (SHGs) a steady source of income by having them run these canteens. Women’s self-help groups manage the canteens under the oversight and control of the Chief Development Officer (CDO), and a canteen is to be opened at every district headquarters.
