Incentive given to Encourage Inter caste Marriages
About Incentive given to Encourage Inter caste Marriages
Maharashtra’s Department of Social Justice & Special Assistance implements the “Incentive for Encouraging Inter-Caste Marriages” scheme, which the State and Central Government fund equally (50:50). It gives money to support inter-caste marriages between Savarna Hindus (including the Hindu, Jain, Lingayat, and Sikh communities) and persons from Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, Nomadic Tribes, Nomadic Castes, and Special Backward Classes. The scheme fosters social harmony and works towards ending untouchability. Both bride and groom must be permanent residents of Maharashtra.
