“In-Plant Training” Component of the “Development of Industries” Scheme

Puducherry
Quick Summary: This Puducherry scheme places educated unemployed youth aged 18-35 in year-long, on-the-job training at industrial units, paying a monthly stipend of ₹1,500 to ₹3,000 based on qualification.

About “In-Plant Training” Component of the “Development of Industries” Scheme

Run by the District Industries Centre under the Department of Industries and Commerce, UT of Puducherry, the “In-Plant Training” component of the “Development of Industries” scheme was set up to generate job openings and nurture entrepreneurial spirit among educated but unemployed youth. Trainees are placed at industrial establishments where they learn on the job in a live production setting — observing, assisting, and picking up the trade themselves. This hands-on exposure equips them to either launch their own ventures or find employment in established industrial units. The training runs for one year and carries a monthly stipend that varies with the trainee’s educational qualification.
