ICSSR Doctoral Fellowship
About ICSSR Doctoral Fellowship
This ICSSR fellowship promotes original, socially relevant, policy-focused research in the social sciences, offering a ₹20,000 monthly grant plus a ₹20,000 annual contingency grant for up to two years — an initial one-year award renewable for a second year on meeting the required criteria. It also runs institutional and short-term fellowships, including a six-month short-term fellowship for scholars close to Ph.D. submission (with at least three years of completed Ph.D. research), and a standalone ₹62,500 contingency grant for specific research needs. Applications open through ICSSR’s website and social media. Fellows must pursue full-time research, submit regular progress reports, and provide a final submission covering published work, a book-length thesis, and audited financial records — all aimed at promoting research excellence, evidence-based work, and policy-relevant scholarship within India’s social science ecosystem.
