Him Kukkut Palan Yojna
About Him Kukkut Palan Yojna
The Department of Animal Husbandry, Government of Himachal Pradesh, launched “Him Kukkut Palan Yojna” to subsidise entrepreneurs/farmers in the state who are keen on or already engaged in poultry farming. Having succeeded under backyard schemes, a growing number of poultry farmers now want to take up poultry as an occupation and have asked the department to promote commercial broiler farming too. Given the advantages of poultry rearing as a business, such entrepreneurs/farmers are to be encouraged through Government help under a subsidy-based Broiler scheme in the state. The following aims and objectives will also be achieved:-
- Better nutrition for the state’s people: locally produced poultry can be sold at fair prices. Many rural people suffer protein-calorie malnutrition and need animal protein of high biological value, which poultry meat can supply.
- Higher income for rural people who practise poultry farming alongside livestock rearing as mixed farming that complements crop production.
- Doubling farmers’ income.
- More jobs for rural people, most of whom are unemployed or seriously underemployed.
- High-grade manure produced at very little cost.
