About Gujarat State Electric Vehicle Policy

Through the “Gujarat State Electric Vehicle Policy 2021”, the Ports and Transport Department, Government of Gujarat, wants to move the state’s transport sector onto electric mobility. The policy also seeks to turn Gujarat into a manufacturing hub for electric vehicles and related equipment, draw start-ups and investment into electric mobility, and cut air pollution for a cleaner environment. Buyers of electric vehicles can get capital subsidies of up to ₹10,000/- per kilowatt hour, while the first 250 commercial public electric vehicle charging stations can claim a 25% capital subsidy on charging equipment, capped at ₹10,00,000/- per station. The Ports and Transport Department acts as the nodal department, and charging station subsidies are handled by the Energy and Petrochemicals Department.
