About Financial Assistance Scheme For Higher Competitive/ Entrance Examination To Scheduled Castes/ Backward Classes Students

The Department of Welfare of Scheduled Castes & Backward Classes, Government of Haryana, introduced the “Financial Assistance Scheme for Higher Competitive/ Entrance Examination to Scheduled Castes/ Backward Classes Students”. Through it, the state government funds Scheduled Caste and Backward Classes boys/girls whose weak finances prevent them from joining coaching for IAS and other higher services competitive examinations. The scheme was revised with effect from 01.06.2009. Under the revised version, a committee chaired by the Secretary, Welfare of Scheduled Castes & Backward Classes, fixes the coaching duration and fee amount for each examination based on market rates. Previously, assistance of up to ₹10,000/- was given. The income limit has also been raised from ₹1.00 lacs per annum to ₹2.50 lakhs per annum. Objectives:

  • To allow Scheduled Castes and Backward Classes candidates to take postal/class room coaching at private professional institutions for civil services Examinations such as IFS,IAS & Allied Services and for other service examinations held by the PSC/HPSC/LIC/GIC/ RRB/ BRB etc. or any other State and Central Govt. recruiting agency. Personal and postal coaching for pre- Entrance examinations in PMT/PET, as well as coaching for interviews, will also be arranged through private institutions.
  • To offer finishing/job-oriented courses that lead to private sector employment in fields such as IT, Bio-technology.

Implementing Agencies: Reputed institutions located in Haryana and elsewhere in India will run the scheme. Funding Pattern: Funds go directly to the institution concerned, in two installments: 30% is released as soon as the candidate joins the coaching, and the remaining 70% after the candidate completes the course satisfactorily. Quantum of Fee: Every year, after gathering market feedback, the Committee sets the fee structure and coaching duration for the various examinations, so these change from time to time.
