Educational Assistance To Children Of Prisoners
About Educational Assistance To Children Of Prisoners
Kerala’s Department of Social Justice introduced “Educational Assistance to Children of Prisoners” to support families left behind when a parent is sent to jail. People end up behind bars for a variety of reasons, some known and some not, but it is often their households that bear the heaviest burden once the sentence begins. Such families tend to be shunned by those around them, and a sudden shortage of money can force children out of school while they are still very young. Left unchecked, this can have serious long-term consequences, including pushing a new generation towards crime. The government designed this scheme to prevent that outcome and help these families rejoin the social mainstream.
