About Distance Education Scheme for Girls
In 2022, the Higher Education Department, Government of Rajasthan, introduced the “Distance Education Scheme for Girls”. It opens up distance learning to girls and women who cannot attend college or university regularly because of family or other circumstances. Rajasthan girls studying through distance education have their undergraduate, postgraduate, diploma and certificate course fees reimbursed. Objectives:
- Backing the education of the girl child in UG, PG, Diploma, Certificate courses under ODL (open and distance learning) through fee reimbursement.
- Raising the Gross Enrollment Ratio (GER) and improving the balance of female-to-male representation in higher education, known as the Gender Parity Index (GPI).
Target Group:
- Rajasthan’s girl students admitted to distance-mode courses in state funded Universities/ State Government Institutes, IGNOU included.
- Only state funded Universities of Rajasthan covered under section 2(f) & and 12(B) of the UGC Act, and IGNOU, are permitted under the scheme.

Students already receiving fee reimbursement under another State…
Students already receiving fee reimbursement under another State Government Scheme for the same period cannot claim under this scheme; they will, however, be reimbursed the difference between the "Existing Scholarship" and the "Distance Education Scheme for Girls".
Holders of prize/incentive scholarships may still apply
Holders of prize/incentive scholarships may still apply. Note: A student eligible for a distance education course under the Post Matric/Other Scheme of the Social Justice Department, Govt. of Rajasthan, will be reimbursed through the existing Social Justice Department/ Other Department process, and will not receive reimbursement from the SJE portal under the "DE-HE" category.

Renewal Process:
Once the academic year ends, file the renewal application on the same portal.
Students who are not promoted to the next level cease to qualify for further reimbursement.
Switching courses ends fee reimbursement from the date of the switch.
